Why this tool exists

Most people read at 200–250 words per minute. A big part of why is subvocalisation and eye movement — your eyes jump across each line, fixate, jump again, and sometimes backtrack. It is slow and inefficient.

RSVP eliminates eye movement entirely. Words appear one at a time in a fixed position, and the Optimal Recognition Point is highlighted and centred so your eye stays perfectly still. The result: you can comfortably read at 300–500 WPM or more, with practice.

What it does

How it works

  1. Paste your text. An article, a book chapter, study notes — anything you want to read faster.
  2. Set your target WPM. Start around 300 and adjust up or down. You can change speed during playback.
  3. Press play. Words appear one at a time with the ORP letter highlighted. Your eye stays fixed in one spot.
  4. Build up speed. As you get comfortable, increase the WPM. Most people can reach 400–600 WPM with a few sessions of practice.

Key features

ORP highlighting

Each word's Optimal Recognition Point is highlighted and centred. Your eye stays perfectly still while words flash past.

Smart timing

Punctuation and long words get extra time automatically. The pace feels natural, not robotic.

Live WPM adjustment

Change your reading speed during playback with keyboard shortcuts or buttons. No need to stop and restart.

Keyboard-first controls

Space to play/pause, arrow keys to skip words or adjust speed. Designed for flow, not clicking.

FAQ

What is RSVP speed reading?

RSVP (Rapid Serial Visual Presentation) shows you one word at a time in a fixed position. Because your eyes do not need to move across the page, you can read significantly faster than normal.

What is the ORP highlight?

The Optimal Recognition Point (ORP) is the letter your eye naturally fixates on when reading a word. The tool highlights this letter and centres it, so your eye stays still while words flash past.

What WPM should I start with?

Most people read at about 200–250 WPM normally. Start at 300 WPM and adjust up or down until you find a pace that feels challenging but comfortable. You can change speed during playback.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Paste your text and start reading immediately. Your texts are saved on your device.

Can I save multiple texts?

Yes. Each text is saved separately with its own WPM setting. Switch between them any time.

Where is my data stored?

In your browser's IndexedDB. Your texts never leave your device unless you enable sync.

Can I sync across devices?

Yes, with a Keirsdad Sync subscription. Your texts and settings will appear on all your devices.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once the app is loaded, it works without an internet connection.

Ready to try it?

Free. No account. Paste a text and start reading faster.
