Why this tool exists
When you are stuck on a decision, your head is full of arguments pulling in different directions. Writing them down helps. But a flat list of pros and cons treats every argument as equally important, which they never are.
This tool adds weights. A single strong pro can outweigh five weak cons. You see the balance shift as you think through your arguments, and the visual scale shows you where things stand.
What it does
- Create named decisions with a question or title
- Add pro and con arguments to each side
- Assign a weight (1–5) to each argument
- See a visual balance showing which side is stronger
- Save multiple decisions and return to them later
- Edit or remove arguments at any time
How it works
- Name your decision. What are you deciding? “Should I take the job?” or “Move to a new city?”
- Add arguments. List pros on one side, cons on the other. Be specific.
- Weight each one. How important is this argument? 1 is minor, 5 is decisive.
- Read the balance. The scale shows you where things stand. Sometimes the answer is clear. Sometimes you learn that the decision is genuinely close.
Key features
Weighted arguments
Not all arguments are equal. Assign weights from 1 to 5 so strong reasons carry more influence than minor ones.
Visual balance
A scale that tilts as you add and weight arguments. See the direction of your decision at a glance.
Multiple decisions
Save as many decisions as you need. Come back to old ones when circumstances change.
Instant and private
No sign-up, no cloud. Your decisions stay on your device. Nobody else can see them.
Who it is for
- Anyone facing a tough decision and wanting to think it through clearly
- People who make lists but struggle to rank what matters most
- Teams or couples who want to lay out arguments side by side
- Overthinkers who need a structured way to stop going in circles
FAQ
How does the weighting work?
Each argument gets a weight from 1 to 5. The tool sums the weights on each side and shows you which side is heavier. This way, one strong argument can outweigh several weak ones.
Can I save multiple decisions?
Yes. Each decision is saved separately and you can return to any of them later.
Do I need an account?
No. Open the app and start listing pros and cons. Everything is saved on your device.
Can I share a decision with someone?
Not currently. The tool is designed for personal use. You can always screenshot the result.
Where is my data stored?
In your browser's IndexedDB. It never leaves your device unless you enable sync.
Can I sync across devices?
Yes, with a Keirsdad Sync subscription. Your decisions will appear on all your devices.
What if both sides are equal?
The tool will show them as balanced. Sometimes a decision really is a coin toss — the tool helps you see that clearly.
