Why this tool exists
Memorising text is one of those tasks that is simple in concept but tedious in practice. You read the passage, cover it up, try to recite it, get stuck, check, and repeat. The process works, but doing it manually with a piece of paper is clumsy.
This tool automates the cover-and-reveal method. It progressively hides more words as you practise, so you are always working at the edge of what you know. No flashcards, no spaced repetition algorithms — just the text you want to learn, gradually disappearing until you can say it from memory.
What it does
- Paste any text you want to memorise
- Practise with progressively hidden words
- Reveal words when you get stuck
- Increase difficulty as you improve
- Save multiple texts and switch between them
- Track your progress on each text
How it works
- Paste your text. A speech, a poem, a monologue, exam material — anything you need to learn.
- Start practising. The tool shows your text with some words hidden. Try to recall the missing words.
- Reveal when stuck. Tap a hidden word to see it. No penalty — the point is learning, not testing.
- Increase difficulty. As you get better, more words are hidden. Eventually the entire text is blank and you are reciting from memory.
Key features
Progressive difficulty
The tool hides more words as you practise. Start with a few blanks and work up to reciting the entire passage from memory.

Multiple texts
Save as many texts as you need. Switch between them and pick up where you left off.
No distractions
No gamification, no points, no streaks. Just you and the text you want to learn.

FAQ
How does the word-by-word method work?
The tool hides words from your text and asks you to recall them. It starts by hiding a few words and gradually hides more as you improve, until you can recite the entire passage from memory.
What kind of text can I memorise?
Anything. Speeches, poems, song lyrics, scripts, Bible verses, exam material, wedding vows — if it is text, you can memorise it.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Paste your text and start practising immediately. Your texts are saved on your device.
How long does it take to memorise something?
It depends on the length and complexity of the text, and how much you practise. Short passages (a few lines) can often be learned in one session. Longer texts take multiple sessions over several days.
Can I save multiple texts?
Yes. Each text is saved separately and you can switch between them.
Where is my data stored?
In your browser's IndexedDB. Your texts never leave your device unless you enable sync.
Can I sync across devices?
Yes, with a Keirsdad Sync subscription. Your texts and progress will appear on all your devices.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once the app is loaded, it works without an internet connection.
